Rev. Jonathan Barker, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin, says he is fasting for climate change and will continue to fast until Congress passes a climate bill. Barker states his reason for the fast.
“As a Christian, I am called to be on the side of love for neighbor. Love for neighbor means making sure my neighbor has a livable future, a family-sustaining green job, clean air to breathe, and clean water to drink.”
He says he will be cautious and will stop fasting if his body fat drops to 6%. Barker says he will take it one week at a time as he closely monitors his health to indicate whether he will continue.
