The many forms of fear are laid out and a three-pronged approach to managing this emotion is espoused. “Combining the General Counseling Techniques, the Non-Resistant Method approach, and the power of God to help overcome fear offers a broad spectrum for managing fear and anxiety,” Popovich writes.
Popovich’s writing style lives up to the title’s moniker of being layman-friendly. Each of the five chapters is divided into sub-sections and there are plenty of eye-catching bulleted lists, quotes, and practical advice throughout. The tone is not condescending, but informative, friendly, and genuinely helpful.
With more people paying attention to the often deadly effects of stress, anxiety, and depression — conditions in which fear is often a component, A Layman’s Guide To Managing Fear delivers a timely and much-needed message. At only fifty pages, it is concise and accessible, and concludes with a handy summary of the principles the reader will learn as well as a section for personal notes. Those who struggle with fear — and that’s all of us — are strongly encouraged to grab a copy of this book today for themselves and a few copies for others.
