Chris Brown Speaks on Rihanna Assault For New Documentary: ‘I Felt Like a Monster’
Brown, then just 19, confessed to punching and pushing the “Umbrella” singer, who was 20 at the time, into the window of the Lamborghini he was driving, saying, “I felt like a ——- monster.”
As he details, the pair were at a Clive Davis Grammy party when another woman, who Rihanna allegedly believed had relations with Brown, approached their table. “The ceremony’s about to start, she’s just crying,” Brown said. “She got over it. She started drinking a little bit, we both was drinking a little bit…”
But in the car, things quickly escalated when Rihanna read a text message from the unidentified other woman and a fight broke out.
Brown says it wasn’t the first time they had ever allegedly hit each other. “I remember she tried to kick me, but then I really hit her, with a closed fist, I punched her,” he remembered. “I busted her lip. When I saw it, I was in shock. I was like, ‘—-, why the hell did I hit her?’”
“From there she just spit in my face,” the singer added. “Spit blood in my face and it enraged me even more.”
After he pulled over, Rihanna allegedly faked throwing the car keys out the window and called out for help.
“I get out of the car and I’m looking for the keys and somebody yelled and she yells out her door, ‘Help, he’s trying to kill me.’”
Soon after their fight, a police photo emerged of Rihanna’s bloody and bruised face.
“I look back at that picture and I’m like ‘That’s not me, bro, that’s not me,’” he said. “I hate it to this day. That’s going to haunt me forever.”
Brown ultimately was charged with one felony count of assault and one felony count of making criminal threats. He was spared jail time and was given five years’ probation and 180 days of community service.
