Andy Mineo got a big look courtesy of Ben Affleck’s new movie. The filmmakers behind Live By Night, a new crime film written, directed by and starring Affleck, used Mineo’s song “Desperados” in the official trailer. Illmind, who produced the track, shared the trailer on his Instagram account. Mineo also talked about the song’s inclusion in an Instagram post.
“Thanks to @livebynightmovie for using our song “Desperados” off of my album #uncomfortable,” Mineo wrote.
Live By Night is set in the Roaring 20s with Prohibition in full effect. Affleck plays Joe Coughlin, the son of a Boston police captain who rejects his father’s path and becomes an outlaw. Coughlin’s lifestyle gets out of hand when he crosses a powerful mob boss by stealing the gangster’s money and moll. The film was adapted from Dennis Lehane’s 2012 novel of the same name.
For Mineo, his song’s use in the trailer could help him to break into the mainstream. As a religious artist, Mineo has built a dedicated fan base, but struggles with stigma of Christian rap. The Live By Night trailer will bring “Desperados” to whole new audience that could help Mineo reach new heights.
I produced the official trailer music for Ben Affleck’s new movie @livebynightmovie 🎬 Shouts @lambchopmusic @andymineo The movie looks 🔥 BANG BANG 💥💥When Gabe played those guitar licks, I immediately envisioned gangsters. Like Dick Tracy sh!t. 50’s gangsters. Or walking into a casino in Las Vegas with a suitcase full of 💰 ready to blow a few million. It was that feel. Then Andy laid his vocal and we named it “Desperados”.
