Kelly “knocked it out of the park,” Grant beams.

Amy Grant‘s update of her 1991 smash “Baby Baby,” featuring Tori Kelly, debuts at No. 8 on Billboard‘s Hot Christian Songs┬áchart (dated May 21). It bows powered largely by its No. 2 entrance on Christian Digital Songs with 10,000 downloads sold in the week ending May 5, according to Nielsen Music.

While pop singer-songwriter Kelly makes her first appearance on Hot Christian songs, genre cornerstone Grant scores her fifth top 10 and first since 2010’s No. 8 peaking “Better Than a Hallelujah.” (Hot Christian Songs began in 2003. On Top Christian Albums, which dates to 1980, Grant has earned 16 No. 1 sets.)

The new version of “Baby Baby” was released in honor of the 25th anniversary of the original, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks beginning April 27 (and was still in the top 10 on this date 25 years ago; Kelly, 23, wasn’t born yet when the original was storming the charts).

Grant’s album featuring the original “Baby Baby,” Heart in Motion, led Top Christian Albums for 16 weeks and climbed to No. 10 on the all-genre Billboard 200. The LP also produced three additional Hot 100 top 10s in 1991-92: “Every Heartbeat” (No. 2), “That’s What Love Is For” (No. 7) and “Good for Me” (No. 8).

For the 2016 makeover, Grant enlisted producers Dave Garcia and Keith Thomas (the song’s original producer who also co-wrote it with Grant). Garcia mixed new vocals from Kelly with Grant’s original 1991 recording. “It actually wasn’t my idea to use Tori Kelly,” Grant says. “My record label and management brought her up, and the two of us connected immediately. She knocked it out of the park. Plus, let’s face it, I’m 55. I love that I didn’t have to do anything (laughs).”
