Nearly 10 Million People Watched “A.D.: The Bible Continues” on Easter Sunday; 2.5 Million Watched “Killing Jesus”

The premiere of NBC’s A.D.: The Bible Continues earned a healthy 2.3 rating and 9.5 million viewers, blowing the rest of its competition out, but fell short of the original Bible miniseries’ numbers. Fox finds success by replaying Killing Jesus with almost 2. 5 million viewers.

A.D. was “NBC’s highest drama debut this season, opening with a 2.3 rating in 18-49,” noted Deadline. “…with virtually no lead-in (it followed a two-hour Dateline, which managed a 0.9 in 18-49) on a night that traditionally has been challenging for NBC post-football.”

With “An average of 2.49 million viewers watched repeats of the adaptation of Bill O’Reilly’s book on FNC that night. That’s a pretty impressive result in cable news, given that National Geographic Channel’s unveiling of Killing Jesus nabbed 3.7 million viewers across the previous Sunday night — the biggest audience in that network’s history,” Deadline reported.

Killing Jesus replays outstripped CNN’s series Finding Jesus, which had averaged 924,000 viewers and 297,000 news-demo viewers in its four-week telecast.”

A.D.: The Bible Continues will return Sunday 9/8c.
