Thousands of children will hunt for Easter eggs at events thrown by a New Jersey church.
It will be the biggest holiday hunt of its kind in New Jersey history, said organizers.
The Liquid Church will hide about 100,000 eggs at its four sites in Morristown, Mountainside, New Brunswick and Nutley, on April 4 and 5, organizers said. The church is reaching out to members and non-members alike with the free event – which requires registration.
“At Liquid, one of our core values is that church can be fun,” said Tim Lucas, the lead pastor and founder of the church.
Each egg will have either a candy or a small toy inside – and a select few will have a ticket for a free iPad, said organizers.
The Liquid Church was founded in 2001 by Lucas. It started as an alternative ministry from the Millington Baptist Church, a traditionalist denomination, but split off for good on Easter 2007. The Liquid Church touts a casual outreach – including rock bands instead of hymns, and pastors wearing jeans, said Kenny Jahng, a pastor with the church.
And now, for the first time, it will hold an enormous Easter Egg hunt.
