What’s the one movie we really can’t wait to see in 2015?
Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens.
According to a Fandango survey, it’s the most anticipated film of the new year.
The company says that the new J.J. Abrams creation, set to open Dec.18, caps a year that promises several big films, including the second-most anticipated: Avengers: Age of Ultron and, taking the third spot, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2.
Fandango says those films are expected to be so big at the box office they’ll challenge 2013’s record year of about $11 billion in U.S. ticket sales. This year so far, films have grossed $10.5 billion domestically, according to Rentrak.
Taking the No. 4 spot on the list: Fifty Shades of Grey.
And at No. 5: Jurassic World, the new sequel. Other hot movies to look for include the new James Bond movie and another Mission: Impossible movie.
Fandango’s results come from a poll of 1,000 film fans on its website from Dec. 22 through Dec. 29. The company also looked at the biggest film stars and breakthrough performers going into the new year.
