Pastor Rick Warren will launch Saddleback Church’s newest campus in the community of Newport Mesa on Super Bowl Sunday. This new spot – across from Triangle Square – gives a permanent home to the former Huntington Beach campus congregation which has set up weekly at Ocean View High School.
The campus will be led by pastor Moses Camacho, who began pastoring at the high school in 2011. Camacho did seminary work at Berean University and attended Cal State Fullerton and Azusa Pacific University. He has been a pastor for 18 years.
His passion for ministry, he says, comes from connecting people to a church family, helping and guiding them to build quality relationships with God and with a community of people around them.
In an interview with the Register, Camacho talked about the new campus and what people can expect from it. The campus is the ninth Saddleback Church campus in Southern California. Last year, Warren opened Saddleback Los Angeles on Easter Sunday. The church also has international campuses.
Q: Tell me about the new Newport Mesa campus, what are you most excited about?
A: I am excited about being a church that will be able to provide phenomenal family programs to make them stronger. Saddleback does an amazing job with being the premier place for families. I often hear from others how they have been so encouraged by what Saddleback offers on a weekly basis.
Q: How does the new location benefit people who live in the nearby communities?
A: Having a strong community church in a central beach cities location allows you to build great friendships and connections with those around you. Saddleback not only offers a great weekend experience but also provides amazing mid-week opportunities to further your personal needs. We have men gatherings, women gatherings, single mom gatherings, physical health gatherings, student gatherings and many more gatherings happening near the church on an ongoing basis. Having a church like Saddleback nearby has been so helpful to those who are looking to get further ahead.
Q: Will the campus offer more than church services?
A: Yes, Saddleback Church is a community-focused church to not only help people in their spiritual journey with a relationship to Christ but also focuses on helping people to be relationally healthy – in marriage, parenting, family and friendships; physically healthy – using God’s design for physical health; emotionally healthy – understanding the design behind our heart; financially healthy – learning how to live without financial stress; and many other aspects of understanding how to make the most of your life.
